Our Story
American Audio-Video has provided outstanding event support for over 50 years. We were founded in 1972 near Washington, DC, in Falls Church, Virginia, guided by a passion for production technology, lighting and audio services for our clients, resulting in exceptional events for over half a century.
In the spring of 1987, recognizing the growing need for top-quality audio visual services in the Raleigh/Durham area, we began a partnership with the Sheraton Imperial in Durham, NC. Shortly thereafter, we opened our NC regional office in the Raleigh/Durham area to service the convention and event centers all across the southeastern United States. Our growing footprint has allowed us to service clients in many different areas and provide the superior event quality that sets the stage for their success.
In 2020 after 48 years of dedicated leadership, founder and president, John Eltzroth, retired. Mike Murphy, the current president of American AV, transitioned into the role after serving 19 years in the company and continues the client-focused service that American AV is known for today.
As the technology and demands of our industry advance to new and exciting heights, we continue to offer that same passion and commitment to our clients across the country and around the globe. With our strategic locations, along with our incredibly talented employees, we continue to provide the exemplary service that our clients need to bring their events to life.
